  • Aggie Parent & Family Advisory Council

    The Aggie Parent and Family Advisory Council seeks to continually improve the support provided to families by Student Life's New Student and Family Programs and across the university.

    Parent and Family Advisory Council applications are made available every summer.

WHAT WE DO...

The primary mission of the Parent and Family Advisory Council is to facilitate communication between Aggie Families and the University. This council provides a forum for university representatives and a select group of current Aggie Families to share information and perspectives, supporting student success. By fostering communication, the council aims to enhance the university experience for both Texas A&M students and their families.

ADVISE & GUIDE
Provide feedback and opinions on parent related programming and events, as well as Texas A&M University programs, initiatives and services. Feedback may be requested at bi-annual Council meetings or online through emails or surveys.
PROGRAM ATTENDANCE & SUPPORT

Attend and support Student Life's family program events and programs throughout the year, such as topic-based webinars, New Student Conferences, and Family Weekend.

PUBLICATION REVIEW & CONTRIBUTION

Council members may be asked to review and/or contribute to Student Life's publications aimed at helping families during their student’s transition to college and beyond throughout their tenure on the Council.

ATTEND BI-ANNUAL COUNCIL MEETINGS

Parent and Family Advisory Council members are expected to attend both meetings held during during a weekend each fall and spring. Additional teleconference meetings may be held based on necessity.

Requirements for Eligibility
  1. Have a full-time undergraduate Texas A&M University - College Station student (due to the current size of the council, preference will be given to applicants with  incoming students in the Class of 2029 or transfer students who started Summer or Fall 2025).
  2. Willingness to meet the responsibilities outlined above.
  3. Must be available for the on-campus meetings in the fall and spring semesters.
