Texas A&M University is committed to providing an environment of academic study and employment free from harassment or discrimination to all segments of its community and will promptly address all complaints of discrimination, sexual harassment including sexual assault, dating violence, domestic violence, stalking and related retaliation, in accordance with applicable federal and state laws. As an institution, we have the resources and options to support any student involved in a situation involving sexual misconduct. And as Aggies, we must be willing to assist those who may be afraid to come forward or who may not know where to turn for help.
On Monday July 10, 2017, the Dean of Student Life sent an email to all students regarding a required training related to the topics above. This training, Haven and Haven Plus, assists us in educating students on these vital topics while also fulfilling requirements set forth by the federal government. All Texas A&M University students are required to fulfill this training. They may find the training by logging into Howdy, clicking on the Student Life tab and going the “Required Training” channel, additionally a link to the training was also included in the email sent to students on July 10th. An additional email, reminding students of this requirement, will be sent in the next few weeks.
We hope that you will assist us by encouraging your student to complete this training promptly. Failure to complete Part 1 of the required training by the September 22, 2017 deadline will result in a course registration hold preventing students from registering for classes for the spring 2018 semester. We also hope you take this opportunity to speak with your student about healthy relationships and positive support for others who may have experienced or be struggling with these issues. Staff in the office of Student Assistance Services (979.845.3111) is available to help individuals who may be affected by discrimination, sexual harassment including sexual assault, dating violence, domestic violence, stalking and/or related retaliation.
