Aggie Muster 2018

April 2, 2018 by New Student and Family Programs

Aggie Muster is a tradition unique to Texas A&M University that embodies and perpetuates the Aggie Spirit. Celebrated on April 21st every year, Muster engages thousands of Aggies worldwide to honor and celebrate the Aggie Family – past, present, and future. It is famously quoted “If there is an A&M man in one hundred miles of you, you are expected to get together, eat a little, and live over the days you spent at the A&M College of Texas.” Although over a century has passed and thousands of Musters have been held, the roots remain the same of honoring the Aggies who have passed and celebrating those gathered together.

For more information about a Muster ceremony near you, visit aggienetwork.com/muster.

On-Campus Events:
Reflections Display
In order to more fully recognize and honor the lives of our Student Campus Muster Roll Call honorees, personal items will be displayed as a living memorial in the Muster Reflections Display. Family members of campus honorees submit photographs, letters, stories, Aggie Rings, or other personal items that reflect on their loved one’s life and what mattered most to them. It is our hope that we, as Aggies, can create an opportunity for these families to display their favorite things about their honoree and celebrate them by using these items to exhibit who their loved one was, what they did, and how they touched the lives of those around them.

Reflections Display items will be displayed in the Memorial Student Center Flag Room from Monday, April 16th to Friday, April 20th, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and on Saturday, April 21st from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Camaraderie Barbecue:
Friday, April 20th
12:00 p.m. – 2:30 p.m.
$10 (Cash, Credit/Debit Cards, Dining Dollars)

Campus Muster Ceremony & Roll Call for the Absent
The Campus Muster Ceremony is held each year on April 21st at 7:00 P.M. in Reed Arena. Traditionally, the ceremony involves a keynote speaker, Roll Call for the Absent, and playing of Silver Taps.

Keynote Speaker:
The 2017-18 Aggie Muster Committee has announced Kathleen Gibson ’81 as the keynote speaker for the 2018 on-campus Aggie Muster ceremony. Chosen by current students, Gibson learned of her nomination in the Fall of 2017 and has been working closely with these students as they plan the ceremony.

Kathleen Gibson is President and CEO of Southwestern Medical Foundation – a leading charitable corporation supporting advancement in medical education, medical research and medical care. Click here for more information on Ms. Gibson.
